Astrology Transits January 2026: Studying Saturn’s Domiciles - Capricorn and Aquarius - for a Happier Winter!

This month, the Sun, Mercury, Venus, and Mars are together in Capricorn and Aquarius, highlighting these two energy fields as foci in our lives. This post is designed to give you ideas of how you can use the energy of the transiting planets first in your career then in making your higher ideals part of your life as they transtion between Saturn's signs through the northern winters season.

What's important about Capricorn and Aquarius and how can we best use these energy fields?

Saturn is the great time clock of the zodiac. Taking approximately 28 years to complete one cycle around the zodiac, he splits the lives of people into 3 distinct parts: (1) in the first 28 years, we develop skills and learn how to be productive members of society; (2) in the second 28 years, we use our abilities to work as productive members of society; and (3) in the final 28 years, we teach others how to be productive members of society. This is an idealized picture of how Saturn sets a structure for our lives. How he does it for each individual is related to his natal placement in that person’s chart. He is the life builder and the great teacher. He is time. He is endings, but he is also beginnings, for we cannot have one without the other in this life.

Saturn’s two signs – those he rules in traditional astrology – relate to building form and structure in the (1) material world and (2) the world of thoughts and ideas. Saturn crystalizes and hardens things. He allows us to make real things that are otherwise ephemeral or transient or formless. Planets that enter Saturn’s signs by transit will look to achieve actions related to what they rule naturally. When we do not use Saturn to create structure and build, Saturn can cause inhibitions, restrictions and/or slow activities or processes in our life. Therefore, it is especially good to be active in the parts of life where transit Saturn is passing, but also when other planets are passing through Saturn’s domiciles.

From now through mid to late January, the Sun, Mercury, Venus, and Mars are all in Capricorn. As an Earth sign, Capricorn strongly relates to activities in the material world, including large scale development of real estate, mining, and industrial farming. This is building and earth movement on a large scale. The sign energy has to do with achieving goals and climbing mountains to get to the top. As such, Capricorn is also a strong sign for individuals building, with the focus on career, reputation, and management of a lot of resources. This Capricorn season, it can be helpful for you to take some actions related to building your career, reputation or your own personal business. Below, I will give ideas about this for each rising sign.

From mid to late January until the early to mid-February, the Sun, Mercury, Venus and Mars are in Aquarius. As an Air sign, Aquarius strongly relates to activities in the mental world, the world of ideas, including think tank work, the formation of ideas that result in large scale social movements, and the work of large organizations that further humanitarian or philanthropic works. Aquarius is also a strong sign for individuals crystalizing mental trends into humanitarian or higher ideals. The Aquarius season, it can be helpful for you to spend some time considering how you might want to make the world better, or, more practically speaking, how to apply your higher ideals to your life. Below, I will give ideas about this for each rising sign.

Note that this is not a comprehensive discussion of how to use these energies. Instead, I am focusing on one of many ways that you would use Capricorn and Aquarius energy respectively in the time periods listed.

Aries Rising

The Capricorn energy is manifesting in your 10^th house, so you can focus is on career and reputation, and how you can build it. This is the 10^th house for you, the house of career and work in the outer world. So, take steps to build and strengthen your career. Or if you want to make changes, get a promotion, or start a new career, with Mars and the Sun here, you have support!

The Aquarius energy is manifesting in your 11^th house, so you can focus on developing big ideas about how to improve humanity, help the earth, and/or support humanity’s children. Take these ideas to an organization that does humanitarian work, and see if they want to implement them. Think of the group before the individual.

Taurus Rising

The Capricorn energy is manifesting in your 9^th house, so you can focus on advertising or marketing your business, or expanding your reputation. You can try to make international connections in career. You can teach others in a formal setting. You can also try to start a course of higher education to improve your career or business.

The Aquarius energy is manifesting in your 10^thhouse, so you can focus on how to make your higher ideals express in your work in the outer world or career. If you run your own business, try to think of ways to make it greener or more equal or helpful to others in some way. Or you can just pick something you believe in and make it part of your work in the outer world.

Gemini Rising

The Capricorn energy is expressing in your 8^th house, so you can focus on any work that has to do with blending resources or helping other manage their critical resources (financial, health, possessions, etc.). If you work in the healthcare, legal, insurance, tax, psychological, or financial worlds, you can push career at this time. If you are in a partnership for career, think of how the resources and duties are split and whether that can be done more effectively and efficiently. Can your self-transformative practices help you with your career or work in the outer world?

The Aquarius energy is manifesting in your 9^thhouse, so you can focus on understanding your higher ideals in the context of the ideals of other cultures. You can try to spread your higher ideals to others. You can teach others about those beliefs. You can also undertake a course of study related to your beliefs system and ideals.

Cancer Rising

The Capricorn energy is expressing in your 7^th house, so you can focus on work one on one with others, or any part of your work that involves one on one interactions. If you counsel or consult, this is a strong time to expand your clientele. If you wanted to start a business partnership, this can be a nice time for it.

The Aquarius energy is manifesting in your 8^thhouse, you can focus on how your ideals relate to critical resource management and distribution. If you were sharing resources with a partner, what is the fairest way to do this? Are you happy with it? How can you apply your belief system to improve your self-transformative practices? You can try to engage with a new psychologist or other alternative care practitioner during this time.

Leo Rising

The Capricorn energy is expressing in your 6^th house, so you can ensure that your daily work is improving your reputation and helping your longer-term career goals. You can try to make sure your daily habits and routine are structured to maximize your career. If you work in the healthcare, labor organizing, civil rights, or artisan craftsman fields, this is a nice time to focus on career.

The Aquarius energy is expressing in your 7^thhouse, so you can think about what your ideals are for partnership. Also, you can consider how you want all one-on-one actions to go better for you. If you have clients or consult, you can try to infuse your ideals or beliefs into your relationships with them.

Virgo Rising

The Capricorn energy is expressing in your 5^th house, so you can see how your powers of self-expression are useful in your career and work in the outer world. If you teach, this is a strong time to build your teaching career. If you are an artist, musician or athlete, this is a nice time to push your work and put energy into your reputation in these fields.

Libra Rising

The Capricorn energy is expressing in your 4^th house, so you can focus on home or family business, and building it. Also, if you are an architect, anthropologist, archeologist, builder, real estate agent, you can push your career at this time. If mom or dad can help your career, now is a time to ask for that aid.

The Aquarius energy is expressing in your 5^thhouse, so you can make you ideals into something creative, like art, music, or dance. You can try to teach your children (if any) your belief system. Have some fun with mental games or group activities that relate to your ideals.

Scorpio Rising

The Capricorn energy is expressing in your 3^rd house, so you can ensure that your communications and writings are helpful to your improving your career or reputation. You can take some small classes to improve your work in the outer world. Look for a local business to improve your career. See if your friends or siblings can be helpful to achieving your work goals.

The Aquarius energy is expressing in your 4^th house, which directs your ideals to your relations with home and family. Can you make these better align with your belief system? Maybe it is time to give mom and/or dad a run down on what you really believe, and see how it plays out. If there is tension in that area, now can be a time to start the dialogue, but be patient and do not have any expectations – just do it for your own emotional well-being.

Sagittarius Rising

The Capricorn energy is expressing in your 2^nd house, directing you to understand how to maximize income from career or your own business. You could start a business that sells things under these transits. Think about what resources you have coming in that you may want to direct towards you career or business.

The Aquarius energy is expressing in your 3^rdhouse, so think about what your ideals are from communications with others – how can you improve and how would you like others to communicate with you. Remember, you can control only one of these two parts, but by doing so, you can likely influence the other. Think of how you can share your ideals or beliefs with friends and siblings. You can engage in self-study about topics that are aligned with your ideals.

Capricorn Rising

The Capricorn energy is expressing in your 1^st house, so how you appear to others and your role in life can be used to further you career and improve your reputation. This is strong for taking over management positions or taking more responsibility at work. It is also good for building your own personal business.

The Aquarius energy is expressing in your 2^ndhouse, so you can think of how you can use your ideals in the management of your own personal resources – money, your body, your possessions, your home as a resource. This can be good for thinking about how your belief system relates to your diet and exercise – body management.

Aquarius Rising

Do those things align with your values and higher ideals? If not, what changes can you make to have others see the deeper parts of you that relate to You?

Pisces Rising

The Capricorn energy is expressing in your 11^th house, where you can focus on career or reputation in large companies or organizations of all sorts. You can also see how your higher ideals can help your career. If you work with groups, large events, or humanitarian ideals, this is a nice time for using that aspect of your work to improve your career.

The Aquarius energy is expressing in your 12^thhouse, so you can think about how your higher ideals are expressed in your spiritual life and practices. You can come up with some ways to have your belief system or ideals improve life for those kept remote from society, like improving hospitals, mental health institutions, prisons, etc.
