Mars enters Aries: Events Happen Suddenly, Quickly, and Tend to End Abruptly

Mars is in Aries from April 9 to May 18, 2026.

Mars enters Aries for one month, which is a very energizing transit for the world and for us as individuals. In the world, among other things, Mars rules weapons, wars, sharp objects, tools, young men, athletes, the military, dogs, fire, discovery, pioneering, new things, energy, surgery, crime, violence, police, lawyers, disputes, rebellions, insurgency, riots, exercise, iron, metals, and accidents.  In our lives, he governs active energy, our attack and defense mechanisms, strength of will, courage, and desire to survive. Mars is hot, dry, inflaming, exciting, agitating, stimulating, and activating.

Mar’s masculine sign, Aries, shares many of his qualities and rulerships. Aries energy is passionate, impulsive, original, inventive, brings in the new, initiating, dynamic, and fast. Aries is Cardinal Fire, doubly active and energetic. Aries relates to discovery, pioneering, aggression, fights, military actions, wars and battles, power, entrepreneurial activities, leaders, performing talents, athletics, police forces, sharp objects, weapons, tools, new inventions (especially medical, scientific or in energy).

Things happen fast when Mars enters Aries; events are sudden and tend to end suddenly without warning. They are not always long lasting but can have long lasting effects. Mars’ ingress into Aries usually immediately brings events in our lives and the world. This is the initiating energy, so actions start under Aries, and also under Mars.

In the world, this can increase the crime rate for the month. This energy can incite rebellion, riot, and insurgencies. This is usually a time when conflict is initiated or worsens, unless there is counterbalancing energy in the sign of Libra, which rules diplomacy, conflict resolution and mediation. Mars can excite new discoveries in science, medicine, exploration, and energy use. Great legal battles may ensue under this aspect. We may see leaders making impulsive decisions. New actors and performer may suddenly become popular. Major events involving military action, the police, and similar authorities are more likely. There can be very exciting athletic events, particularly in the first few days of this transit. People may be more excited, angry, aggressive, impulsive, agitated, energetic, and/or willful.

New Moon Aries Trigger April 15 to 17:

Before we get into specific conjunctions of Mars to other transit planets in Aries, there is a significant buildup of planets in Aries that is set off by the Moon’s ingress from April 15 to 17. Aries-ruled parts of life are likely to undergo significant events that may be sudden, active, and with Saturn and Mars involved, have a more negative connotation, including possible mundane parts of life like:  wars; international negotiations; decisions by world leaders (especially headstrong leaders); athletic events; hot and dry weather; pioneering work in scientific, energy, and/or medical fields; energy production and discoveries; the iron industry; new entrepreneurial enterprises; manufacturing of goods (especially using heat or fire in some way); military activities and the military industrial complex; surgery; the use of tools; and ideas and inventions relating to thermodynamics. Some of the below planetary conjunctions highlight other areas of life where these energetics play out as Mars sets off events in Aries related to other planets he conjoins.  

Mars will conjoin Neptune from April 9 to April 18, 2026 (strongest from April 12 to 14):

This transit can lead to accidents related to oil, chemicals, mold, and poisons. Pray we do not see an accident with an oil spill! This can happen in your personal life as well, so be careful. There may be significant deception related to the war. This is a first-rate transit for hidden issues coming to a head – Mars can expose what Neptune has hidden, and in Aries, it can be about world leaders, athletes, or performing artists. This could be discoveries in spiritual sciences, music, marine biology, pharmaceutical drugs, the film industry. This can stimulate heat or activity, in oceans and large bodies of water, so there are chances of oceanic volcanoes erupting. Missing persons might increase at this time. This can bring another largescale virus or contagion situation, though without Jupiter present, it thankfully is unlikely to be CoVid sized.

Personally, this could insight beautiful, original spiritual experiences; new and inventive ways of connecting with the higher consciousness and energies. You can be extra creative musically and artistically, pioneering in new and interesting ways. Beware of fraud and schemes in your personal life as deception is heightened. This is no time to take drugs or drink alcohol as addictive and destructive tendencies are higher. There are poor boundaries with such substances and a pull to be impulsive. Surgery can have varied results, with potential for leakages or odd, strange results (think of the sponge accidentally left in the body), and anesthesia can have a stronger effect and even be more likely to have a poisonous impact, so avoid surgery or anesthesia if you can. Be careful on boats and in the water generally, as accidents related to open or deep waters are more likely during this transit.  

Mars will conjoin Saturn from April 15 to April 26 (strongest from April 18 to 22):

Here we blend hot and cold, fast and slow, energizing and enervating, but the result is not always neutral. Mars is stronger here, but I have noticed that Saturn seems to impede Mars’ functions greatly in both Aries and Scorpio, the signs in which Mars is in domicile, despite being weaker than Mars in these two signs. Here, in Aries, Saturn could aid by reigning in Mars’ impulsivity. But Mars can still speed up Saturn’s structure building processes, thereby bringing about results that are sudden and premature. For each of us personally, it is a time to reevaluate what we are doing with Saturn’s energy in our natal charts as discussed in my February newsletter, in my blog posts from February 2026. In the world, things related to Aries that have been slowly forming are now expedited, ready or not! So, maybe the construction of a new energy production plant (an Aries place) goes faster, which can bring more energy to those in need at a more efficient rate (remember, new scientific discoveries related to energy can come under Aries), but there can be errors because Saturn is disrupted. A push to initiate new activities that accord with Saturn in Aries can happen, but they may not take off well.

This transit can lead to dictators or authoritarian leaders making decisions more quickly than normal. They may squash insurgencies or rebellions literally before they happen. In Aries, this can bring draughts in the spring season this year. There may be large scale mining or Earth destruction projects undertaken or rushed; errors can lead to losses in these areas. Farms and crops can be burned or damaged. The government bureaucracy can be less effective and make mistakes based on poor judgment and rushed work. This can bring about changes in law, and also bring verdicts, judgments, and conclusions in legal cases. There can be new discoveries in architecture, engineering, and archeology. Right wing governments may be more active in making change.

Personally, there is a higher chance of accidents, especially to the head area. If you are in a legal battle, things are more likely to come to a head, especially if you instigate them to do so. You can try to start new building, entrepreneurial, managerial projects, but only if you have created a good foundation for them by this point. Healthwise, careful of headaches, toothaches, and jaw aches. This is a stroke prone aspect to those prone to such events. Eyes are dryer and prone to injury. This is a fall asepct, so be careful on ladders or uneven ground. Chances of heavy metal poisoning are higher at this time. Do not start new diets under this as the tendency is to self-starvation and malnutrition. If you own a farm, watch for plants getting poor nutrition or being burned in some way (e.g., excess fertilizer).

Mercury comes to meet transit Mars from April 17 to 24

Here, we may see an uptick in original and inventive news activity, journalism, and reporting. Some interesting stories can come out but be careful about veracity and look for the story to change as this can be impulsive news releases without a strong evidentiary foundation. Electronics companies may release new products or offers to the public. The postal service and other package delivery services may have trouble.

Personally, there can be overheating and over-energizing of cell phones, small electronic devices, and computers. This is a good time to start reading a new book or learning a new language for enjoyment. You may have a lot of communications, from you and to you. It is important to be aware of what you say and how you say it as this aspect bespeaks sharp, caustic communication. Careful of errors in surgery under this one as Mars is stronger than Mercury, who rules accuracy and small detail work in surgery. The nervous system is hot, dry, too excited, and tends to inflammatory issues. Take time to relax; a nice cool bath before bed can be very soothing.

Conclusion

This is an eventful transit, and we can expect to see transpire in the world in the next month as Aries and Mars are intimately intertwined with the initiating principle. We hope for peace, justice, patience, and balance – Libran qualities – to counter the Aries aggressive and impulsive energy.
