This Week in Medical Astrology at a Glance:

Moon in Gemini - Breathe to Keep Calm

The Moon is in Gemini from Sunday, April 19, at 12:19 PM EDT to Tuesday, April 21, at 1:01 PM EDT. The moon is in a waxing crescent phase.

Flowing through Gemini, the Moon’s energy stimulates the mind. It quickens alertness, increases dexterity, and fosters curiosity. This energy is playful and flexible. However, it can also be erratic and changeable, making steadiness hard to find. The Moon's influence can awaken us and increase our speed, which can be beneficial if harnessed correctly.

Celestial energy is drawn to Gemini body parts, including the upper lungs, pulmonary pleura, capillaries, shoulders, arms, hands, afferent nerves, bronchial tubes, and speech faculty. Swelling and fluidic pressure are more likely in these areas. Avoid surgery on these regions during this time. The Moon can enliven these body parts, helping to strengthen or build them up. However, it may also lead to nervousness and anxiety, difficulty breathing, or exacerbated asthma symptoms. Conditions like pneumonia, weakened pulmonary function, and poor capillary function may arise.

This Moon can also induce insomnia, often due to mental overactivity or an overstimulated nervous system. Breathing exercises can help, as Gemini rules the inspiration of breath. It’s wise to reduce exposure to electromagnetic radiation during this period. For instance, consider putting your phone on airplane mode at night, turning off your Wi-Fi, and keeping electronics away from your body. Support your nerves with gentle nervines like lemon balm, chamomile, and milky oat tops.

Slow down and take time to ground yourself. Engage in calming practices, such as yoga, qi gong, or gardening. Keeping your hands busy can also be beneficial.

Moon in Cancer - Let the Feelings Feel

The Moon is in Cancer from Tuesday, April 21, at 1:02 PM EDT to Thursday, April 23, at 2:42 PM EDT. The Moon phase is Waxing Crescent.

As the Moon flows through Cancer, its energy becomes nurturing and emotionally charged. This phase is softening and comforting, especially for those in need. The energy is cooling and moistening, which can lead to increased fluids in the body and heightened sensitivity to sounds and images.

Celestial energy is focused on Cancer body parts, including the breasts, uterus, stomach, spleen, sternum, ribs, elbows, armpits, lower lungs, gums, thoracic duct, posterior pituitary gland, and the emotional body. Swelling and fluidic pressure are more likely in these areas, so avoid surgery during this time. The Moon can sensitize these body parts and help strengthen them. However, it may also bring emotional reactions, sensitive breasts, allergies, and headaches from shifts in fluid in the brain.

During this phase, emotional strain can increase, amplifying whatever feelings you may already be experiencing. It’s essential to take time to process your emotions and avoid undue stress. Give yourself space and empathy. Caring for others can also help soothe your emotions.

For women, hormonal changes can be more pronounced under this Moon. Depending on your cycle, consider taking herbs to balance your hormones in advance of this phase.

Moon in Leo - Care for the Physical & Emotional Heart

The Moon is in Leo from Thursday, April 23, at 2:43 PM EDT to Sunday, April 26, at 9:05 AM EDT. The Moon phase is Waxing Crescent to First Quarter.

This phase is excellent for self-expression and management. Leo’s fixed Fire energy loves performing, leading, and having fun. The energy is exciting, pleasurable, and theatrical. This Moon is ideal for sports, artistic performances, musical events, and dancing. Whether you attend or participate, engage your creative and self-expressive abilities during this time.

Think about what brings you joy and indulge in those activities under this Moon—do something entertaining! However, be cautious, as this Moon can encourage spending. Keep an eye on your budget. Spending time with children can be particularly rewarding during this phase.

If you manage or lead projects, take charge during this Moon transit. It’s also a good time to explore stocks, markets, and finances; this Moon favors financial advisors. However, it’s a gambler’s Moon, so be mindful of your risks. Watch for market reactions to the eclipse degree on Tuesday, March 2, when the Moon opposes Mars and triggers the 28th degree of the Leo/Aquarius axis. This can be a fun time, especially since it falls on a weekend!

Moon in Virgo - Be sure to eat, but nothing too heavy!

The Moon is in Virgo from Sunday, April 26, at 9:06 AM EDT to Tuesday, April 28, at 5:04 PM EDT. The Moon phase is First Quarter to Waxing Gibbous.

Flowing through Virgo, the Moon’s energy facilitates hard work, effectiveness, efficiency, order, organization and mastery of detail. It is drying, and through activity, can be warming. This energy can be anxious and prone to fastidiousness, requiring relaxation and fluidity to improve stuck patterns and relieve stress. It can give great stamina and discernment, and is excellent for creating boundaries.

Celestial energy is pulled to Virgo body parts including the liver, pancreas, spleen, small intestines, duodenum, immune system (the part that distinguishes the quality of what enters the body), fingers and hands (with Gemini and Mercury), abdomen, diaphragm and solar plexus. Avoid surgery to all of these regions. This Moon can have an enlivening effect on these body parts and be used to strengthen or build them up. This Moon can bring nervousness and anxiety, sensitive digestion, blood sugar spikes, and hypochondria. The Virgo Moon can make the immune system extremely effective at weeding out what is harmful so Mars can attack and defend your body. Like its sister Gemini Moon, related by Mercury’s rulership of each sign, Virgo can have a quickening effect on the nerves. Any natal tendency to orthorexia nervosa, or self-starvation, and pickiness around food, enhanced by this Moon.

It is important to avoid heavy, fatty, oily, fried, or overly processed foods during this Moon. Despite this, you should be sure to eat an adequate amount and resist the vibrational pull to be picky about food at this time. There is also sensitivity to alcohol and chemical drugs, so even more than normal, avoiding such substances is best under the Virgo Moon. Give yourself time to rest; do not overwork! Moisten the system with creams, oils, and demulcent herbs as this is a very drying Moon. If anxiety starts to overwhelm, perhaps spend some time breathing while cleaning, ordering, and organizing in a quiet, toxin free environment. It may be necessary to take a chill pill, in the form of gentle nervine or sedative herbal friend.
